Coffs Harbour, a stunning coastal resort on the Mid-North Coast in New South Wales is located in Australia. The town is situated in a beautiful spot, where the mountains fall down to the ocean. It’s about halfway between Brisbane and Sydney.
Coffs Harbour is a wonderful place, and we love sharing our favorite activities to do there, as well as our top Coffs Harbour accommodations.
Bonus? The bonus? !-
1. Coffs Harbour Marina & Jetty
Coffs Harbour Marina & Jetty looks stunning on a sunny day! You can watch fishing boats coming and going, or spot the luxurious yachts that make this harbour their home.
The ice creams were the main attraction. There are several places where you can have lunch, but we chose to eat here because of their delicious taste. Here, the kids enjoyed running along the Breakwater Wall and climbing some rocks in order to see the waves crash below.
Jet skis for singles, families and double seats are available to rent. You can have some fun with your family by zooming around the harbor. You can leave your younger children on the shore while you enjoy yourself. Just kidding! Jet skis that are family size can accommodate one adult and up to two children.
Solitary Islands Marine Park, located just off Coffs Harbour is the perfect place to watch the incredible Humpback Whales congregating as they make their way back from Antarctica. Locals claim it’s one of the best whale-watching spots in Australia.
See these incredible creatures up close in the comfort of the Pacific Explorer motor sailing catamaran.
The smooth sailing boat was designed to make whale watching a pleasure. The sight of these giants jumping out of the water to slap their tails is amazing. Get your camera ready!
2. Mutton Bird Island
The absolute best thing to do in Coffs Harbour is…
Mutton Bird Island has a stunning beauty! The island is breathtaking when viewed against the blues of the ocean, sky and sea.
The island is small, but the views it offers are stunning. A 1km round trip walk on the island provides a unique experience.
This beauty is not a surprise to make our list of things to do in Coffs Harbour! Stay on the paths as you walk past many Mutton Bird nesting sites. Try to get your children to spot nests as you walk.
The view from the top is simply stunning. You will see a beautiful view on one side that stretches from the mountains, the picturesque coastline, and an impressive marina.
On the other side, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the vast blue ocean.
The island is a great place to do some Coffs Harbour Whale Watching. You can find a great viewpoint on the other side of the island. Binoculars or a camera lens will be required.
Is there a whale in the ocean?
3. Sealy Lookout
Coffs Harbour’s most unique attractions!
This impressive architectural structure is located in Bruxner Park Flora Reserve, a short drive away from Coffs Harbour. It’s well worth the trip!
The drive up the mountain is also worth it, with its narrow winding roads and cascading plantations of bananas.
Sealy Lookout should be on your list of must-see attractions in Coffs Harbour. The sky pier makes you feel like you are walking into the horizon. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of Coffs Harbour.
Take some spectacular panoramic photos with your camera. Breathe in the cool mountain air, and let yourself be swept away by the scenery for a few moments.
4. Charlesworth Bay Beach
A secluded cove with a shattered shell
The peacefully hidden Coffs Harbour Beach is covered with shells and is a little piece of heaven! The kids will spend hours collecting shells. It’s not like a race, is it?
Charlesworth Bay Beach is etched in your mind forever! It will be in mine and ours. We spent many hours exploring, playing, and collecting.
5. Nature Walks – Korora Headland Walk
The giant trees that we call trees protect the mushrooms and wallabies. Try to spot wallabies, colourful butterflies and spiders while the boys hunt for goannas, spiders and other creepy crawlies.
This is not just for kids. We are all here to explore, right?
I’m not sure about you, I love to see my family walking as one. Enjoy watching your children ‘lose’ themselves in nature! This place is magical.
You can let your mind wander and enjoy a state of daydreaming when you walk through the forest.
There are many different distances of trails, so choose the one that suits you best! There are also many other trails that you can enjoy in Coffs Harbour’s national parks!
While these are some of our favourite activities to do in Coffs Harbour, we are sure you will enjoy them as well. There are many other things to do in Coffs Harbour.
