It would be a lie to say I love my son. Since his years of growing up have flown by, I knew that there was a method to “freeze” time for a few moments in order to capture my emotions. I used this thought and feeling to create a letter for my teenage son…and although he’s not a teenager anymore, his words will always ring true.
He’ll be my little bro forever in my eyes and heart!
A Letter To My Teenage Son
People always ask why I write this letter rather than just telling him these things instead. Spoiler Alert: I’ve done both.
To me, writing this letter means it will remain forever. Although words are wonderful, and I have verbally told him this as well, there is only a short time before they are a distant memory.
This article? This letter? This letter?
Words last Forever
These words I wrote to my child will never be forgotten. When he is struggling or needs a positive idea, he can come to this post. What a wonderful gift!
As a mother, all I want for him is the best. He has been an inspiration to us since the day he arrived and he has continued to be a role model, leader and leader in his adulthood.
If this letter can be a positive memory for him when he looks back on his childhood and his family, it makes me smile to think of that smile.
Write your own letter to your child (or daughter).
Don’t delay. You can’t promise tomorrow, so now is the time to show how much you value them. Type up on email, hand write a letter and send it in the snail mail, or send them a quick text…A simple gesture that they can keep forever will mean more to them than you’ll ever realize.

To my dearest son,
You are almost 18! It seems like yesterday that I was changing your baby diapers. Today, you can literally jump in your car and go your own way. You are a teenager. You are about to graduate as a Senior.
You will be off to college in no time and starting your family. I still can’t believe how quickly time has passed.
I can see you as a baby when I close my eyelids. You were the most adorable baby ever. I wanted to let you know that I think you will do amazing things during your lifetime.
You may or may not do things exactly the way that I want, but you always make the right decision. I’m so proud of everything you do and stand for. It’s hard to juggle work, college coursework and high school while helping me in the house. But you manage it all so well.
You know how to make everyone smile.
I admire you for your positive outlook and personality. You make everyone feel special.
It’s incredible to see yourself as your own person. This little person that I grew in me is now doing amazing things on the outside. I love watching your passions and goals come true. You may only be a teenager but you inspire me daily.
You’re a great role model for your sisters, even as a teenager. They look up at you! You prove that you were born to be their big bro. I love seeing you protect them and be there to support them. They are so lucky that you are there for them!
I am so proud of everything you do! You were a lot of hard work when you first started, but now that you’re older you are becoming the young man i always hoped you would become. I am looking forward to your future and watching you GO BIG.
Love always
Mum
Write them a letter and tell them how you feel. Give them words of joy that they can have forever. They will cherish this gift.
