We have been in and out lockdown for the past few months. We are unable to go out and about as often as we would normally. The fact that the gyms and leisure centres are not open as usual has made it difficult to stay fit. With the new year fast approaching, I am determined that I will lose the lockdown and stay healthy and fit for whatever comes our way in 2021. It takes a bit more effort to stay fit at home, but it is possible. Read on to learn more about how you can keep fit at your home.
YOGA

Yoga is my favorite form of exercise. I love that yoga is free and can be done in the warmth of my home in winter or outside when the weather is nicer. You don’t need much except for a decent pair of shoes. yoga mat. You can find a wide range of guided yoga videos on YouTube. It is great for your mind and body.
RUNNING
Running is also a free activity. All you really need are a pair of quality running trainers. I’m trying to get back into it. I love how it makes me feel and I enjoy the mental space that I get when I run. It is a great cardio exercise for anyone looking to lose weight or take care of your heart. If you are a beginner, try the Couch to Five app. It’s free and you could run 5k within 9 weeks.
CLEANING
Even simple household chores can help you stay fit. Vacuuming can burn up to 175 calories in an hour. Spending an hour cleaning the house vigorously could be equivalent to running 20 minutes. And you’ll have a nice clean house as a bonus!
WALKING

Walking is good for your soul and it has been my saviour during lockdowns. If the lockdown rules permit it, you can meet a friend and walk the dog together. You can also catch up on the way. Choose a hilly path to make the walk more difficult – ideally, uphill on your way there and downhill when you return!
HIIT WORKOUTS
If you’re feeling really energetic and want to work out your whole body, try a high intensity interval training routine. There are many free routines on YouTube that are suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced. They are excellent for improving cardiovascular health and burning body fat. It is also possible to make a real difference by exercising for 30 minutes three days a week.
